Production Supervisor

A leading manufacturing/food processing company in East Trinidad is seeking an experienced and qualified individual to fill the position of Production Supervisor. The incumbent will work closely with the production line to ensure employee safety, product quality and asset performance while delivering on time the shift/line/area production plan.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and review production progress against deadline targets to ensure on time delivery
  • Manage special customer order requirements to ensure on time delivery
  • Constantly review production processes and make recommendations to improve to ensure improvement in efficiency
  • Ensure that the necessary reports on manufacturing yields, waste management and maintenance are collated
  • Identify and recommend changes to existing lines or processes, which result in increased performance
  • Ensure optimum levels of staffing for effective plant operations
  • Maintain record of employee's attendance and tardiness
  • Provide a clean and safe environment to work in which will promote production of a safe food product free of human health risks
  • Ensure all product produced is within accepted specifications
  • Interact with the production planner to assure an optimal run strategy
  • Any other related duties as advised by Management

Job Requirements

  • Five (5) CXC passes inclusive of Maths and English
  • A Diploma in Food Science and Technology or demonstrated equivalent with related food industry experience
  • Working Knowledge of Quality Management systems
  • Knowledge of HACCP procedures
  • At least four (4) years experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • At least two (2) years supervisory experience
  • Safety/OSHA knowledge and understanding
Required Competencies, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and other report writing tools
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Successful applicant may be required to work on Saturday, as needed
  • Good interpersonal skills and an excellent ability to communicate at all levels
