Job Title: Accountant 

Company Profile:
Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) manages a major fuel-efficient power plant in Trinidad and Tobago. The 720-megawatt (MW) TGU facility is a combined-cycle power plant which is owned by the National Investment Fund (NIF), the latter is a wholly owned entity of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago (GoRTT). The plant is located at the Union Industrial Estate, La Brea and supported by a Corporate Office in Chaguanas.

Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the following contract position: 

Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for the development, maintenance and administration of the company’s Accounting policies, procedures and systems providing support for the Finance function with specific responsibility too process and manage payroll, taxation, accruals, accounting and vendor reconciliations and provide analysis of all balance sheet accounts. This role also contributes to ensuring that integrity in the Financial Management Information System is maintained in a professional manner in keeping with company policy, local and international accounting standards.
The position requires the performance of routine accounting work in the Finance function.

The job of General Accountant provides support for department functions with specific responsibility for performing activities related to the preparation of monthly salaries; verification of vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions; computing liability of Corporation Tax and ensure timely review approval and filing of tax return and any outstanding balance of tax liability; coordination of preparation for Audits and handling of general queries from third parties (Bank, Insurance, Vendors, Employees);recording, updating and reconciling related financial information; and providing instructions and/or accounting support to other personnel in accordance with established practices and company approved policies and procedures.

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience:

• Professional finance and accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• At least five (5) years’ experience in finance and accounting, one (1) of which must be at a supervisory level.
• Membership in ICATT.
