Job Description:

Summary:
The HSEQ Officer will ensure that SCL Trinidad Ltd. is compliant with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and EMA regulations by continuously pursuing risk reduction and monitoring/maintaining safe working conditions and practices. The HSEQ Officer will also provide the necessary support to top management in developing, enforcing and maintaining a culture of Safety and Quality.

Reports to: Operations Manager

Salary Range: TT$8,000.00 - TT$10,000.00 (Based on experience and qualifications)

Location: San Juan

Responsibilities
Provide support in the development of a culture of Safety and Quality by:
  • Development and maintenance of SCL’s HSE management system to ensure compliance with current OSH/EMA requirements.
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics i.e. toolbox meeting, safety training etc.
  • Conduct risk assessments, gap analysis and enforce preventative/corrective measures and actions.
  • Planning and execution of all emergency and evacuation drills and reporting on department performance.
  • Liaise with Operations Manager to ensure all annual inspections and certifications are successfully executed.
  • Initiate and organize safety training of employees and executives and maintain records of all training in conjunction with the HR department.
  • Organizing health and environmental surveillance exercises.
  • Inspect facilities, work areas and the work of personnel to identify non-conformances.
  • Oversee proper control/disposal of waste and ensure compliance to EMA regulations.
  • Immediately halt any unsafe acts or processes.
  • Record and investigate incidents and/or accidents to determine root cause and the applicable corrective actions.
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to top management.
  • Manage and report on HSE related expenses.
  • Maintain all records of the HSE Management system.
  • Work with quality personnel to maintain all QMS records and data.
 
Skills and Competencies
  • At least five (5) years as a HSE Officer preferably in a fast-paced Manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and certification in First Aid/CPR and Fire Safety.
  • Ability to immediately respond to Emergency Situations.
  • Knowledge of OSH/EMA regulations and requirements.
  • Familiarity with STOW or ISO 14001/9001:2015 management systems and safety standards will be an asset.
  • Proficient in MS office suite
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Diligent with great attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present and clearly explain HSE topics.
  • BSc in Occupational Safety Management.
  • OSH Certification OR
  • Any suitable combination of qualifications, training and experience.
