Description
The candidate will report to the Managing Director and is expected to lead and coordinate all Occupational Health Safety and Environmental related activities and initiatives across our operations while ensuring compliance with OSHA and STOW regulations and standards. This role is focused on ensuring compliance, preventing incidents/accidents and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive HS&E Manager to join our team that’s committed to operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and the highest standards of health and safety.
The candidate will report to the Managing Director and is expected to lead and coordinate all Occupational Health Safety and Environmental related activities and initiatives across our operations while ensuring compliance with OSHA and STOW regulations and standards. This role is focused on ensuring compliance, preventing incidents/accidents and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures in line with OSHA and STOW requirements
- Conduct risk assessments and site inspections, lead accident/incident investigations and root cause analysis; enforce corrective and preventative measures
- Ensure full compliance with safety laws and regulations as well as customer, supplier and company standards
- Coordinate and lead HSE training and awareness programs for staff and contractors
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and certification entities to ensure ongoing STOW certification and OSHA alignment
- Conduct Safety Meetings and Toolbox Talks among others
- Prepare and submit all required HSE reports, metrics and documentation in a timely manner
- Conduct audits of the Company’s assets at customer locations and develop a plan to ensure compliance
- Conducts site visits as required to comply with RFQ/Tender requirements
- Coordinating all training/orientation for employees (internal and external)
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance
- Maintain HSE management systems in alignment with company and statutory requirements
- Monitor environmental performance and implement sustainability practices
- Demonstrate leadership presence by overseeing operations on customer locations to ensure compliance
- Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or related field
- Recognized HSE Certificate in NEBOSH or OSH General Industry
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in HSE roles with the oil and gas or manufacturing industry with at least 2 years in a supervisory position
- Proven experience with STOW system and certification requirements
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in high risks environments and manage emergency response protocols
- Proven track record in building a positive safety culture through active behavioral safety programs
- Highly developed ability in preparing Risk Assessments and JSA’s based on specific needs
- Ability to lead change efforts and behaviors.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Ability to function as an effective team member.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both oral and in written.
- Working knowledge of computer applications.
- Willing to work flexible hours.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational, Safety and Health Act of Trinidad and Tobago.
- Experience in working in a STOW certified or ISO environment.
