Network Security Analyst

NATURE & SCOPE

Design, implement and maintain computer and information security systems. Monitor networks to detect suspicious or hostile activities and take measures to prevent and defend against malicious attacks on the systems. This position will be based in Trinidad.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Monitor the networks for security breaches and investigate violations. Analyze network traffic to identify anomalies and test the information security controls for weaknesses.
  • Prepare reports that document security breaches and the extent of the damage caused by the breaches.
  • Install and use software such as firewalls and data encryption programs to protect sensitive information.
  • Develop security standards and best practices for the company.
  • Recommend security enhancements to management or senior IT staff.
  • Review company disaster recovery plan. The recovery plan must include preventive measures such as regularly copying and transferring data to offsite locations and continual testing of the steps in the recovery plans.
  • Stay up to date on IT security and on the latest methods attackers are using to infiltrate computer systems. Research new security technologies to decide what will most effectively protect the company.
 
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Professional experience developing and implementing new security systems, security programs, protocols and maintenance of existing systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of data communications and network experience of operating systems and tools.
  • Knowledge of a variety of current and emerging technologies in the security space.
  • Knowledge of Next-Gen Firewalls such as FortiNet, CheckPoint or Palo Alto.
  • Knowledge of information security solutions, including data loss prevention, intrusion detection and prevention, network security monitoring and vulnerability management.
  • Understanding of current threats and trends in Information Security.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell, PERL or other scripting languages.
  • Fluency in English. Bi-lingual in Spanish will be an asset.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology and three years of experience or
  • Six years of experience in a similar role. 
  • CISSP, CISM, CIPM, CCNA Security or other industry-specific certifications preferred.
