Description


  1. Complies with Regulatory Requirements and applicable standards:
  • Complies with all safety and company policies, IMS procedures, regulatory requirements (OSH Act, EMA, FSMS) and other Company policies and codes (ASME, API) involved in planning, directing or executing mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Knows applicable HSE policies and procedures and demonstrates use while assisting with the administration of policies. Develops a detailed understanding of the Large Industries Vital Employee Safety (LIVES) System, identifies and executes qualification needs.
  • Ensures mechanical maintenance strategy, programme and activities complies with IMS requirements by implementing Best Practices as prescribed by relevant GT and IN documents..
  • Knows and applies typical permit operating requirements and methods used to ensure and document compliance.
  • Follows recommendations of  the Company’s Standard Maintenance Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.
 
  1. Plans, executes and coordinates mechanical maintenance activities:
  • Directs the implementation of modification to plant, procedure, materials or behaviors as prescribed by failure mode or root cause analyses.
  • Ensures compliance with approved Asset Integrity management systems scheduling, organizing and coordinating maintenance activities governed by Maximo.
  • Directs standardization and quality assurance of mechanical maintenance workmanship  by development of Standard Maintenance Procedures, Standard Job Plans and Work Instructions.
  • Maintains inventory of tools and documents tool and safety equipment inspections.
  • Provides technical support, supervision and monitoring of the Company’s equipment during repair, modification or fabrication in external workshops.
  • Develops project scopes, job plans, bill of materials, resource requirements and estimates for maintenance jobs, outages and turnarounds.
  • Assist in contractor management and supervision during outages and turnarounds.
  • Coordinates EIS maintenance activities as identified in Maximo and maintains EIS records.
  • Records all services provided during job execution for close-out of Procure to Pay system. Retains job tickets for all services provided and performs receipt on accounting software.
  • Participates, facilitates and reviews Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and other forms of engineering critical analyses.
 
  1. Maintenance Reporting:
  • Prepares weekly report of maintenance activities, including Stop cards received, Safety issues, PM compliance, Corrective work completed, Reliability issues, critical spares required.
  • Compiles data monthly/ annually for calculation of maintenance KPI’s such as MTBF, MTTR, maintenance costs, PM compliance etc.
 
  1. Maintenance Strategy Development and long-term planning:
  • Participates in developing annual maintenance plan and 10 year maintenance plan for plant equipment.
  • Participates in maintenance annual budget preparation as per the Company’s maintenance strategy and  cost control (M1, M2, M3 and M4 type cost)
  • Reviews existing PM program for each asset annually for compliance with established best practices, OEM recommendations, or improvements based on historical performance of the machine.
  • Maintains a filing system for Work-orders, reports, manuals, drawing and engineering documents. 
 
  1. Develops and Leads People:
  • Demonstrates commitment to safety policy by compliance to Safety Policy and Life Saving Rules.
  • Works to achieve “Zero Accidents” by taking an active role in toolbox discussions and development of JSA.
  • Ensures provision of PPE and safety equipment to maintenance team.
  • Identifies special training needs of technicians and follow through completion of training with HR
  • Implements other HR policies, processes and programs, soliciting functional guidance, as required.
  • Encourages feedback and suggestions from employees and fosters culture of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Provides candid constructive input to management decisions and actively supports those decisions.
  • If appointed to the TCL, allocates a proportion of time, through concrete contributions locally by designing or delivering training or a best practice, technically coaching a lower level Technician and participating in an external conference / professional organisation.
  • Accepts the delegation of responsibility of applicable senior engineering duties, based on appropriate training and development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management, based on skills and competencies.
 
  1. Manages Maintenance and Repair Costs within budget:
  • Optimises use of outsourced services to maximize value of hours consumed.
  • Identifies and implements opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Develops and implements work schedules (inclusive of overtime work) of Mechanical Maintenance Technicians.
  • Manages overtime within established limits.
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • BSc. In Mechanical Engineering with either First Class or Upper Second Class Honours
  • Graduated within the last 2-3 years
  • Maximum 1 to 2 years’ work experience in the manufacturing or petrochemical industry.
  • Leadership experience as demonstrated by having a strong involvement in Campus activities as well as off-campus activities.
