The Tobago Regional Health Authority is responsible for the provision of healthcare throughout Tobago. Key services are offered at the Scarborough General Hospital, Tobago Emergency Medical Service and Primary Care Health Centres.

The Communications Officer will be responsible for building and promoting positive relationships between the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) and public, including Governmental Agencies, NGO’s, businesses and other interest groups and the media.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Prepares the Communication Plan and corporate communications strategies of the Authority 
  • Develops appropriate policies and procedures to guide communication with internal and external publics 
  • Writes and develops press releases, electronic, print and web based communications. 
  • Address or respond to incoming requests for information from media outlets 
  • Organise events at which the public can meet with various departments of the TRHA to increase awareness and or knowledge of our services or recent developments. 
  • Maintains the content and design on the organization’s intranet and internet. Including TRHA’s Web site and social media platforms. 
  • Develops a regular release of internal newsletter(s), on social media, Intranet content, corporate bulletins and other significant corporate publications 
  • Ensures message, brand and reputation consistency across all media publications/written communications 
  • Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics 
  • Measures the effectiveness of each communications channel and recommends opportunities for improvement 
  • Conducts research and analysis of the issues and opportunities which exist within the various internal and external publics and interpret these issues and opportunities to Executive and Senior Management 
  • Design and conducts customer satisfaction surveys and other quality assessment tools 
  • Advises and counsels executive and senior management on all aspects of corporate communications 
  • Develops and monitors financial budgets and retains fiscal accountability. 
  • Adheres to Accreditation Standards, Public Health, Infection Control, Occupational Health and Safety, MoH/ DHSS, and TRHA Protocols, Guideline, Policies and Procedures 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
 
SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS
  • Willing to work overtime, public holidays and weekends as requested by the Chief Executive Officer
  • Staff must avail themselves as far as possible for duty in the event of an emergency or disaster
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communications and organisational skills
  • Ability to work on a number of diverse projects simultaneously and meet deadlines on each whilst ensuring accuracy and timeliness of assigned projects
  • Experience in Events Planning & Management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, all social media platforms
  • Experience in maintaining all social media platforms
 
CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Training as evidence by a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field from an accredited educational institution
  • Postgraduate training would be an asset
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in the Communications field, three of which should be at a Senior Managerial level.


All external certification must have Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) Certification
