General Manager

JOB PURPOSE:
To lead the personnel and manage the operations of the Proposals, Sales and Service department, in order to improve overall effectiveness and efficiency thereby meeting the company’s strategic goals/objectives to achieve growth and sustainable profitability.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•             Provide direct support to the Managing Director on items related to Strategic Planning, Marketing and Sales, Technical/Engineering and Administrative.
•             Directly responsible for achieving the Company’s budgeted sales targets in all markets including Projects and Service
•             Collaborating with Manager- Marketing and Business Development as well as the Account Executives, Team Lead-CSS and Team Lead CARICOM Business Development to review the progress of the Sales
               funnel/pipeline/sales forecasting and any other related matters;
•             Develop and direct the implementation of the sales and marketing strategy as agreed by Strategic Planning team.
•             Improve performance of the Proposals, Sales and Service department and its personnel through better organization, training and development and recruitment whilst also developing an effective and efficient sales
               team through coverage and customer relationships.
•             Set goals and direct the activities of the Marketing, Sales, Service and Proposals departments to achieve stated targets for growth and profitability.
•             Maintain Performance Upfront Management systems for reporting and measuring individual, team and organizational performance for relevant departments. Recruit, manage, train and motivate direct reporting
              staff.
•             Monthly reporting at ELT Meetings on the status of the operations and address outstanding matters;
•             Provide technical support for all enquiries, pricing worksheets, proposals and quotations submitted to customers through training of existing and new proposal personnel.
•             Consult with the Supervisor – Technical and Proposals to follow up on the status of all new inquires in EASI;
•             Manage project activities with the support of the Project Coordinator and Proposals department throughout the enquiry, proposal, engineering, design and procurement phases, including all project deliverables
              (e.g. O&M manuals).  Thereafter ensure the smooth transfer of the project for construction to the Service department for completion and handover.
•             Ensure that the Company’s technical data and engineering manuals, sales manuals, literature, current pricing and discount multipliers is maintained.
•             Conduct regular sales meetings, reviewing ongoing business and sales activities and any associated sales related matters.  Actively update and monitor the Sales Pipeline Report to assist in assessing sales  
              opportunities.
•             Ensure that the first week of every month, a meeting is conducted with all relevant managers, sales and projects personnel to identify and report on the likely projected billings for the month.  Monitor and update  
              this report throughout the month by active follow-up and close-out.
•             Conduct team meetings and provide adequate reporting on progress of the Proposals, Sales and Projects department to the Managing Director.
•             Preparation of departmental budgets on at least an annual basis and maintaining of set financial and non-financial objectives.
•             Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets.
•             Travel overseas from time to time as required by the job.
•             Alignment and adherence to the core values of the company
•             Ensures all work is carried out in accordance with current Company Procedures and Policies particularly as they relate to the Company’s Quality Management System and HSSE requirements.
•             Responsible not only for own safety but also for the safe work performance of other employees under your supervision.
•             Perform other related duties as assigned by the Managing Director.
 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
•             Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Sciences or Management
•             A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a management position
•             Proven track record in Technical Sales
•             Able to meet and converse with Senior Engineers, Managers, etc.
•             Valid Trinidad and Tobago driver’s permit and Passport
•             Advanced computer competency, especially MS Office Suite.
•             Experience operating within a Quality Management and HSSE System.
•             Or previous practical experience in a similar capacity.
