Loss Prevention Officer (Investigations Audit Security)

This role requires the incumbent to protect company assets and improve profitability by supporting the development and implementation of security and safety programs for employees and customers. He/She conducts investigations and prepares comprehensive, timely and detailed reports on all inquiries, interviews and surveys and identifies ways that appropriate Company personnel can take corrective action or implement policy changes. The incumbent works with external parties to ensure criminal actions are dealt with as per the laws of the Country. He/She must support the Company’s mission, core values and standards, ethics and integrity.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Investigations/Audits
  • Identifies, investigates, interviews and reports potential and actual exposure to loss of Company assets.
  • Collaborates with law enforcement and private security to investigate and address cases including, but not limited to, internal/external theft or fraud.
  • Coordinates and conducts internal investigations of problems such as employee theft and violations of corporate loss prevention policies.
  • Performs and/or assists with special investigations including administering detection, deterrence, investigation and resolution of violations of company policies and unlawful activities.
  • Conducts investigations of HSE accidents and incidents and provides reports and recommendations for implementation to ensure all issues are addressed according to legal requirements.
  • Collaborates with law enforcement and private security to investigate and solve internal/external theft or fraud case.
  • Appears as a witness and gives depositions or direct testimony at criminal trials, other hearings and other similar legal proceedings.
  • Minimizes the financial losses of the retail operations related to theft, vandalism, accident, and injury.
  • Focuses on cash handling, staff discounts, theft, inventory control, facilities and equipment damage, security access violations, fraud, and a variety of audits of employee activities.  
  • Performs cash audits and deposit investigations to fully account for store cash.
  • Advises retail establishments on development of loss-investigation procedures.
  • Monitors and reviews paperwork procedures and systems to prevent error-related shortages.
  • Investigates and interviews individuals suspected of shoplifting or internal theft.
  • Supervises surveillance, detection, or criminal processing related to theft and criminal cases.
  • Identifies potential for loss and develops strategies to eliminate it.
  • Identifies security and safety risks that may directly or indirectly affect the well-being of employees.
  • Analyzes retail data to identify current or emerging trends in theft or fraud.
  • Directs and supports loss prevention audit programs including target store audits, maintenance audits, safety audits, and electronic article surveillance (EAS) audits.
 
Security Services Support
  • Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with store and law enforcement personnel.
  • Assists with procuring and directing installation and maintenance of covert surveillance equipment, including but not limited to, security cameras and sensormatic equipment.
  • Provides support during the installation and maintenance of vaults and cash drop boxes.
  • Works in partnership with local law enforcement agencies in respective areas across the country where retail stores/CSU/Warehouse are located.
  • Monitors performance of security personnel assigned to the retail stores/CSU/Warehouse and highlights any issues.
  • Supports cash collection at all retail locations and where ever required in the company.
  • Supports the job-related activities and assignments for asset protection including administering detection, deterrence and resolution of violations of company policies and criminal activities.
  • Assists in resolving crisis situations such as workplace violence, protests, and demonstrations.
  • Does ongoing research to determine updated technology and opportunities to enhance security.

Other
  • Visits stores to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Assists with training retail managers, or store employees on loss control and prevention measures.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned to assist in meeting the Company’s objectives.
 
Education/Training/Experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice, Loss Prevention or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in Accounting/Audit or as an asset protection officer or equivalent.
  • Experience in Drugstore Loss Prevention and with safety compliance and/or program administration.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft office products.
Skills/Abilities considered as assets for the job:
 
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Knowledge of developments in the security industry that relate to role responsibilities/functions of asset protection.
  • Experience providing training and developing process documentation/user manuals for asset protection.
  • High degree of personal and professional ethics.
 
Other
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and possess a vehicle in good working condition that he/she is willing to use in the execution of job responsibilities
