Transport Coordinator - Sea

Reporting to the Manager of Destination Development, the Transportation Coordinator – Sea works with key stakeholders to enhance the visitor experience in Trinidad. This role is held accountable for: 
  • Increasing visitor arrivals from cruise ships, yachts, regional ferry services and other sea transportation.
  • Building partnerships with targeted sea travel providers, tour operators and other distribution partners to develop new routes and increase visitor arrivals to Trinidad.
  • Liaising with relevant authorities to enhance the visitor experience in Trinidad 
 
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Proactively builds partnerships in targeted markets with cruise ships, sea/ocean travel operators, group charter companies, travel agencies to increase visitor arrivals.
  • Liaises with account executives in the sector to develop routes to Trinidad.
  • Selects partners that can work with Trinidad to grow market share, target customers and provide easy access to the destination.
  • Attends key travel and tourism conferences, meetings, conventions in targeted markets to network and build relations with key travel industry players.
  • Identifies high value, new travelers who are interested in visiting Trinidad for discussions with cruise liners, yachts and other industry players.
  • Works with the Port Authority, Customs, Immigration and other stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities to enhance infrastructure and accommodation capacity for increased arrivals.
  • Collaborators with Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Relations Division in organizing familiarization visits, travel tours, junkets, trade missions and other special events for key travel industry sector partners.
  • In collaboration with the Research, Strategy and Marketing Division to market new passengers’ services to Trinidad.
  • Builds the capacity for the travel industry to confidently sell Trinidad through agent training and the provision of promotional materials for tourism sales activities.
  • Researches the industry to ensure that the targeted providers meet performance and safety standards in keeping with local laws and regulations. 
  • Writes reports and presents options and recommendations to Divisional Head and senior management.
  • Collaborates with the Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Relations Division to oversee the logistics for welcoming cruise liners, yachting tours, regional ferry tours into Trinidad.
  • Undertake all the other duties directly related to the job scope. 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Minimum – Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, Marketing, Business or other relevant discipline.
  • A Minimum of four (4) years’ Experience in Tourism/International Travel Industries.
  • Sound knowledge of the Tourism/International Industries. 
  • Service Excellence Skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Problem solving & critical thinking skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
