Job Specification:

The incumbent provides support to the Steel and Lumber Yard Manager in the overall operations of the department, inclusive of manpower management, inventory optimization, and the overall maintenance of the work area and the company’s assets. The Supervisor leads by example in delivering excellent service to customers and adherence to all policies and procedures to ensure the day-to-day operations are effectively executed.

Duties & Responsibilities but not limited to:

• Supervises team members and ensures compliance with all rules and regulations including HSE rules.
• Assists in maintaining and receiving inventory
• Monitors all incoming and outgoing materials in the Steel and Lumber-Yard
• ensures that the security of the premises and goods is optimum
• Ensures that materials are stocked safely and in their assigned spaces
• Assist with customer complaints and queries
• Oversees and co-ordinates the traffic flow of vehicles coming in and out of the Steel and Lumber-Yard
• Ensures employees comply with all personal protective equipment requirements and policy
• Ensures that there is no unauthorized use of company equipment.
• Promotes statutory standards on safety and health
• Support manager with daily duties of the steel and lumber yard as needed
• Any other duties that may be required for the efficient performance of this job classification.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Business Administration or a related field
• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar or related field;
• Proficient experience in the construction or hardware industry will be an asset
• Working knowledge of inventory management will be an asset
• Certification in Health and Safety will be an asset
• Certification in Supervisory Management will be an asset
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Must be a team player.
• Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to work on Saturdays
