Job Description:
Job Title: Sustainability Officer
Department: Sustainability & Corporate Communications
Job Purpose:The Sustainability Officer is responsible for implementing strategies and plans within and outside the Company to communicate the organization’s values and activities, and to promote the Company’s position within the community and partner-organizations through the effective management of the Company’s Sustainability Programmes and associated activities.
The incumbent generally works independently, planning and scheduling work to meet requirements. The work environment is a mixture of office and field-based conditions inclusive of site visits. The jobholder works in a fast-paced environment and is required to meet tight deadlines; this may require after hours and weekend work to address emergent and urgent issues that arise in the Company’s operations that impact the community or key stakeholders.
Additionally, the jobholder must also be able to work with individuals at all levels to obtain their cooperation for critical activities and shared interests. Conformance to stakeholder engagement and relationship management protocols are key to this role.
Principal Accountabilities- Assists in the development and management of plans and direction for community relations, relationship management and reputation.
- Implements sustainability programmes and communication for Company community stakeholders, ensuring the effective distribution of timely and accurate information and the effective performance management of the programmes to enhance the organization’s reputation.
- Researches, directs and prepares for approval, multimedia, print and other communications in furtherance of the promotion of sustainability programme activities or other relevant activities for internal and external audiences.
- Manages all activities inclusive of partner relationships, budgets, timely acquisition of reports, review and analysis of contractual Key Performance Indicators for programme performance and makes recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
- A first degree in Management, Corporate Communications, Business Administration or other related discipline from a recognised, accredited institution.
- At least five (5) years’ experience in a similar role with responsibility for reputation assurance.
- Experience in Community Relations, CSR/Sustainability, Brand, Reputation Management, Marketing and Advertising
