Job Description:

Position Title: Fire Suppression Technician

Job Specification:

• Have basic understanding of the types and use of the fire extinguishers as per NFPA Code
• Inspects, repairs, tests and recharges fire extinguishers in workshop.
• Dismantles extinguishers and examines mechanical parts, extinguishing agents, and expelling means; replaces worn or damaged parts.
• Cleans extinguishers and recharges them with approved materials
• Installs fire extinguishers to approved standards.
• Visually Inspect Fire Extinguishers on site to ensure it is up to code and correctly tag and log customers’ equipment.
• Have basic understanding of the working of the fire hose reel system. Assist in performing function test and hydro test of the fire hose reel system and installation of fire hose reels.
• Have basic understanding of the working of the kitchen suppression system. Assist in performing kitchen hood systems inspections and installations.
• Ability to use hand and power tools to install hardware and maintain tools
• Compose and submit documentation and reports for each installation or repair visit, complying with company’s standard operating procedure

• Working conditions include restricted movement, air contamination, lifting, or carrying heavy objects
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, crawl, sit, talk, move about, hear and speak.
• May be required to work in restricted spaces, from a prone position, and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions.
• Noise level may be high when operating power equipment.
• Employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions especially in emergency repair situations.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and greater than 50 pounds using appropriate equipment.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Employee is required to update knowledge and utilize safety equipment for the work to prevent injury to self or others.
