Job Description:

JOB TITLE: FIELD COLLECTOR (CONTRACT)

JOB SUMMARY:
The position liaises directly with Debtors, conducts visits and negotiates on outstanding debts and where necessary, initiates or recommends further recovery action to achieve settlement of debts in the shortest possible timeframe.
 
SUMMARY OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Visit delinquent debtors with the objective of bringing urgent resolution to outstanding debts.
• Negotiate settlement of debts with debtors, such as arranging for debt repayment or established repayment schedules, based on the debtors’ financial situations. It also includes anticipating and overcoming objections.
• Report to the assigned branch office on established intervals to update the Credit Union on all accounts worked.
• Ensure reports are accurately updated with transactional details/activities and new debtors’ data in a timely manner. It also includes forwarding the requisite information to the Credit Union.
• Advise Management on the effectiveness of collection strategies for various portfolios and recommend enhancements and changes.

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, TRAINING

• No less than five (5) Ordinary Level passes, including Mathematics and English.
• Two to three years’ experience working in a similar position in a Credit Union or financial institution, with exposure to debt collection.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to operate in a computerized environment.
• Any combination of qualifications and experience in a related field.
• Owns a vehicle in good, working condition.
• Great earning potential as remuneration is commissions based.
