JOB PURPOSE / SUMMARY

In addition to customer service, the quality and variety of products in our stores are essential for our success. The Buyer is responsible for ensuring that the business will always have adequate stock that meets its requirements based on consumer purchasing trends and forecasted demand.

Job Requirements:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Monitor stock levels and make plans for buying within budget
2. Based on customer feedback/demand/purchasing history, discover and purchase new products and check the quality and popularity of those already on our shelves
3. Creates purchase orders for approval within the assigned deadlines e.g., weekly
4. Develop an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders
5. Places orders with suppliers and receives and reports on ETAs
6. Evaluate supplier options according to prices, and quality, check specifications, compare products for desirability, and usefulness, and make recommendations for the preferred supplier
7. Creates and manages a database of appropriate vendors via an approved Vendor list
8. Generates and presents analytical reports such as market research, price comparisons, and cost analyses

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Level 5 CIPS
• BSc. in Procurement/Supply Chain, Business Administration or relevant field
• At least 3 years experience as a retail buyer or relevant role
• Knowledge of supply chain principles and techniques
• Familiarity with supplier relationship management, market research, data analysis and forecasting techniques
