Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY The Human Resource Officer is responsible for providing support in the various human resource management functions which includes Industrial Relations, Compensation Administration and Talent Acquisition.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide support to supervisors and staff to develop the skills and capabilities of staff.
- Process the monthly payroll for non-unionised staff.
- Review the monthly payroll for unionized staff.
- Advice on pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits
- Provide Industrial relations advice, guidance and support to management and staff
- Assist Managers, Supervisors and staff with the interpretation of Human Resource Policy Memorandum of Agreement and Industrial Labour Laws and ensure compliance
- Provide assistance in developing human resource plans
- Provide advice and recommendations on disciplinary actions.
- Provide information and assistance to staff and supervisors on human resources and work-related issues.
- Assist in maintaining favorable relations among employees.
- Administer employee benefit programmes, such as pensions, group health plan national insurance claims, workman’s compensation etc.
- Assist in the development of company bargaining proposals for employee benefits and analyzes union benefit demands. Obtain and prepare cost data for company and union proposals and final settlement.
- Assist with preparation of job descriptions. Seek incentive programmes that encourage excellent performance and increase retention rates.
- Conduct Industrial relations research or the resolution of industrial relations issues.
- Attend conciliation meetings at the Ministry of Labour and Industrial Court to take directions on behalf of the company.
- Liaise with recognized majority union to organize and plan meetings.
- Chair monthly Non-Crisis Meetings with the Recognized Majority Union
- Promote workplace safety.
- Prepare Employment and Job letters
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Human Resource Manager.
Job Requirements:
Minimum qualifications AND EXPERIENCE- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or a Social Science Degree
- Knowledge of labour laws and employment best practices.
- Certification in Industrial Relations.
