Description
The Employee Relations Manager provides support to the Chief People Officer in achievement of the department’s strategic objectives. More specifically, the role would be required to ensure a healthy Industrial Relations climate, while spearheading all employee engagement activities.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to support a harmonious Industrial Relations climate
- Provide coaching and support to Management in the handling of grievances, disciplinary actions and terms and conditions of employment
- Manage all internal and external IR activities, inclusive of disciplinary hearings, conciliation meetings, Court hearings, Negotiations etc, to attain timely and effective resolution
- Respond to employee relations issues ensuring that employees’ concerns are adequately addressed
- Promote a culture of accountability, trust, and teamwork, through the effective use of communication and engagement tools
- Implement employee engagement survey findings and strategies to build employee commitment and retention and shape the employee experience (EX)
- Draft, update and communicate approved Human Resource and Industrial Relations policies, procedures and programmes
- Monitor, evaluate and report on productivity metrics that inform performance interventions and process improvements
- Contribute to the HR budgeting process, while also ensuring compliance to assigned budgets
- Coach, engage, supervise and performance manage staff in the execution of their duties
- Perform any other related duties
Qualifications, Experience and Other Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration or equivalent qualification
- Seven (7) years progressive experience in Human Resource Management experience with significant exposure to employee/ industrial relations
- Two (2) years’ Managerial experience in Human Resources
- Knowledge of Industrial Relations and Trinidad & Tobago Labour Laws Labour Laws and Practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of conflict management approaches and techniques
- Creative Thinking and Problem-solving Skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
