Reports To: Vice President, Legal & Portfolio General Counsel
Position Overview:
The Legal Counsel, reporting directly to the Vice President, Legal & Portfolio General Counsel, will playa vital role in providing legal advice and support to the Company and Machines Portfolio, a group of companies operating across various jurisdictions within the automotive sector. This position is based in Trinidad and Tobago, and offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast- paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Advisory:
Provide legal advice and guidance to the company's management, executives, and various business units on a wide range of legal issues, with a focus on automotive industry-specific matters including matters involving issues of commercial law, contract law, consumer law, and intellectual property law.
Contract Management:
Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a variety of contracts, including but not limited to supplier agreements, distribution agreements, licensing agreements, and strategic partnerships.
Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Litigation Management:
Assist in managing and overseeing litigation matters involving the company, including working closely with external legal counsel when necessary.
Risk Assessment:
Identify legal risks and provide strategies for risk mitigation and management.
Policy Development:
Collaborate with the legal team to develop, implement, and update corporate policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and best practices.
Training and Education:
Provide legal training and workshops to employees to enhance legal awareness and compliance throughout the organization.
Qualifications:
- LL.B or equivalent law degree degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Bar in Trinidad and Tobago.
- 2 - 5 years of experience practicing law, preferably with experience working in-house in a business environment.
