SUMMARY
 
As a Leader in the IT Department, the Information Technology Manager plays a vital role in driving our business. He/She manages a team responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures and ethics in IT. He/She effectively collaborates with all stakeholders, internal and external to align work synergies and develop/execute strategic plans that enable effective business operations. He/she has overall responsibility for the strategic planning, organization and execution of all Information Technology activities in the Company. The position will direct the IT Team to development of new technical solutions support, maintain existing systems, and deliver great service to all stakeholders.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establishes the policy framework for managing and maintaining IT systems for internal and external customers/stakeholders. Develops protocols to support established standards.
  • Establishes and maintains robust backup and recovery processes including 100% availability of systems. Ensures that a comprehensive disaster recovery system is in place at all times.
  • Resolves problems with information technology support to achieve strategic objectives. Oversees IT personnel assigned to projects and implementations/upgrades. Ensures resources are accurately allocated in line with strategic and tactical plans and appropriately accounted for at all times.
  • Implement robust security infrastructure, policy and procedures across the IT systems to safeguard company data and IT systems. Work closely with Group companies to create best practice.
  • Conducts training throughout the organization to ensure that users are able to maximize the capacity of the IT solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Performs as subject matter advisor and serves as a point of escalation and becomes actively involved, as required, to meet timelines and resolve problems highly complex in nature. Manages issues proactively, including timely resolution and identification of remediation opportunities. Identifies and resolves systemic issues to prevent them from repeating.
  • Understand the underlying technologies and applications utilized in IT to design, develop, test and implement technology/application requirements. Ensures 100% data accuracy and integrity of IT systems.
  • Establishes, maintains and improves Change Management and Control processes and accountability within all layers of the retail systems.
  • Leads the research, analysis, procurement and implementation of new devices, applications, operating systems and communications technologies in support of applications.
  • Maintains the organization’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies/applications.
  • Develops and maintains excellent vendor relationships and ensures SLAs are adhered to in respect to contract terms and monitors/reviews SLAs.  Manages vendor relationships including determining scope and out of scope work. Drives continuous improvement in vendor relations resulting in improved service and/or lower cost.
  • Monitor performance of IT systems to determine cost and productivity levels and make recommendations for improving IT infrastructure.
  • Ensures that the most is obtained from the Company’s investment in hardware and software including mobile applications, web based & cloud solutions and provides technical assistance and advice to management.
  • Manages budget to plan and is accountable for delivering against business goals/objectives.
  • Establishes, maintains and improves procedures and processes to support all dependent departments, with particular emphasis on the production of timely, accurate and user- friendly reports.
  • Establishes relationships and credibility with all stakeholders while managing expectations. Ensures frequent, continuous and effective communication within IT and with stakeholders to set expectations and negotiate priorities appropriately, via both formal and informal mediums.
  • Supports management by having technologies and infrastructure easily accessible for use in BI Reporting.
  • Shares information cross-functionally to improve workflow processes. Interacts with direct reports and peers to share information and improve cross-departmental processes.
  • Stays abreast of industry leading best practices and brings them to the attention of the leadership team for innovative application.
  • Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes, builds and maintains employee morale and motivation. Ensures team is appropriately staffed with required competencies.
  • Must be able to work after hours, weekends and on public holidays when required.
  • Must own reliable motor vehicle.
  • Performs other related duties as required

  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Ability to think creatively and to implement technology solutions to enhance business.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • University degree in Information Systems and / or Computer Programming / Engineering.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ work experience as an Information Technology Manager in an operation with advanced technology.
  • Certification in the area of IT from a recognized institution.
 
Education, skills and training considered as assets for the job:
  • Competent in SQL programming and database and ETL management.
  • Network technologies
  • Knowledge of Virtualization and Hyper-Converged environments: VMware, and VDI technology
  • Knowledge of Microsoft NAV or Microsoft Dynamics
  • Knowledge of relevant IT security solutions
  • Retail Application Systems
  • Mobile / Web Based Solutions
  • BI Tools
  • Cloud Based Solutions
  • Security Management
  • Disaster recovery and knowledge of Veeam, Sophos, Defendify and Meraki Security Devices, will be an asset.
