Description
JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Analyst/Programmer II provides technical support to the Team Leader and the team of Systems Analysts/Programmers while playing a key role in developing systems that will ensure that GLOC retains its strategic position.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design and Architecture:
- Participate in the design and architecture discussions, providing technical guidance and making high-level decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance of the software system.
- Agilely and rapidly design, develop, test, and deploy software applications that meet business requirements.
- Deployment of solution into market with modern UI experiences using latest opens standards- accelerated value creation.
- Collaborate with other developers, business analysts, quality assurance analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and refine specifications.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, providing technical expertise, code reviews, and best practices to promote skill development and ensure high-quality code.
- Implement and enforce best practices for code quality, testing, and code review processes.
- Ensure the software is thoroughly tested, and participate in test automation efforts.
- Analyse and solve complex technical problems that arise during the development process.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues in existing codebase and propose effective solutions.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, QA analysts, and other developers to ensure a cohesive and successful development process.
- Working with other IT professionals such as system administrators and network engineers, to ensure that the software they develop is compatible with the company's IT infrastructure.
- Research and evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and tools that can enhance the development process or improve the system's capabilities.
- Make informed recommendations for adopting new technologies.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize code for speed and efficiency.
- Conduct profiling and tuning to ensure the application meets performance requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design documents, and user guides.
- Ensure proper understanding and maintainability of the system and documenting coding standards and best practices to ensure transfer of knowledge and consistency among the development team.
- Collaborate with project managers to estimate development efforts, track progress, and meet project deadlines. Provide technical insights to assist in project planning and risk assessment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- First Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems (with an emphasis on login & algorithms) or any related field from a recognized tertiary level educational institution.
- 5 C.X.C. / CSEC passes including Mathematics and English Language.
- 2 A’ Level/ CAPE passes.
- LOMA 280, 290, ACS 100 and all related parts.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in business application programming or in a similar role.
- A minimum of three (2) years’ experience in one or more development languages and web frameworks (.NET C#, PHP, ASP.NET, Node.JS with angular JS)
- Sound knowledge of Project Management techniques.
- Experience in a fast paced environment
- Experience communicating with all levels of an organization
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
- As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
The Analyst/Programmer II must poses strong analytical abilities, must be a critical thinker who pays keen attention to details. He/She must be confident, possess strong communication skills, adaptable and flexible with a natural curiosity and a desire to continuously learn and stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and analytical techniques. The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while being thorough, persistent, focused with a willingness to demonstrate a professional work ethic. Having good teamwork and collaboration skills is crucial to effectively work with others towards common goals.
