Join our dynamic team as a Payroll Assistant, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining payroll accuracy and supporting our employees' needs.

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Payroll Assistant is required to process multiple payrolls efficiently and in accordance with stipulated standards and guidelines.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  1. Process the following payrolls on a monthly basis:              
  • Guardian Life Trinidad & Bancassurance
  • Management Allowance, General & Health Insurance, GAM TT
  • GAM US, GLOC US and Royal Skandia, INTL HEALTH, GPAT
  • Administrative Staff – all Business Units (TT, Jamaica, Barbados)
  • Executive Staff – (Jamaica)
  • Pensioners of the Defined Benefit Pension plan
  • DIRECTORS (Quarterly)
  • Sales Commissions (Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica)
  1. Prepare Monthly Payroll Report for all Business Units (BUs).                            
  2. Remit monthly statutory payments to relevant authorities for GLOC, GHL, GSSL, GAMISL & GAMTL.                              
  3. Remit Credit Union, Unit Trust and Mortgage payments to the relevant organization for all BUs.     
  4. Prepare and submit Mortgage Listings and Policy Billings.  
  5. Prepare cheque payment for mortgage, policy premiums, group plans, lunch etc. for GHL only.                                                             
  6. Prepare annual TD4 slip for all Business Units.             
  7. Data enter and submit health claims.                                                 
  8. Prepare job letters.                                                                   
  9. Prepare invoices & journals related to job functions as required.           
  10. Prepare Agents /Staff Car & Computer loan allocation.         
  11. Prepare lunch deductions on a monthly basis.
  12. Prepare payroll deduction reconciliation for GAMTL, GAMISL, GHL, GLOC, GSSL (SERVS) & PEN.               
  13. To file all correspondence related to functions performed.             
  14. To perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager or Team Leader.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 
  • 5 CXC/CSEC Passes including Mathematics and English Language
  • 2 A’Level/CAPE subjects
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Human Resource Environment or related field.
  • At least 1 year experience in administering payrolls.
  • Knowledge of taxation and NIS laws.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting practices.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: 
The Payroll Assistant must have the ability to deal with people and use his/her initiative. He/She must be organized and meticulous and be able to manage time and resources effectively. The individual must be able to be firm without being discourteous or arrogant.  He/She must be willing to undergo training in technology related software and hardware on an ongoing basis.  He/She must respect confidentiality.  Must be able to function well under stress.
