Job Title: Chief Executive Officer
Reports to: Executive Chairman
Location: Head Office, Chaguanas
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for the overall direction and performance of the company and answers to the Executive Chairman on results. The CEO will sit on the board of directors, overseeing different business units such as sales, marketing, and finance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve organisational objectives and drive growth.
- Analyse market trends and industry developments to inform business strategies.
Operational Management:
- Operations & Performance – answers to the board of directors on the financial performance of business units.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including sales & marketing, IT, finance, human resources/payroll and logistics/purchasing.
- Ensure efficient allocation of resources and manage operational costs.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and motivate a diverse team to achieve high performance and productivity.
- Ensure accountability from managers and their teams
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Staff Management
- Recruit direct reports, develop, and lead staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
- Set targets for continuous assessment of staff
- Ensure the right combination of skills and team dynamics.
- Groom potential management candidates.
Financial Management:
- Direct and coordinate an organisation's financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximise investments, and increase efficiency;
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial prudence and profitability.
- Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Set financial key performance indicators for the company and ensure all accounting is carried out according to standard procedures and accounting principles
Customer/Supplier Relations:
- Ensure excellent customer service and maintain strong relationships with key customers and suppliers.
- Address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements & identify and mitigate risks to the organisation.
Business Development:
- Identify business opportunities and develop strategies to expand the company’s market presence.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including suppliers, partners, and regulatory bodies.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present reports on operational performance, financial status, and strategic initiatives to the Chairman and Board of Directors.
- Use data and analytics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
Skills & knowledge required
- Exceptional leadership skills – able to build a high-performing team
- Familiarity with diverse business functions such as Marketing, PR, Finance etc.
- Analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
- Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues.
- Flexible and demonstrates critical thinking
- Able to give and receive constructive criticism.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Ability to handle stress
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Qualifications & Experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Management.
- MBA will be an asset
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a senior management role, preferably within the manufacturing sector.
- Strong knowledge of business operations, financial management, and strategic planning.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.
- Experience in a family business setting will be an asset
