TITLE: ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN

DEPARTMENT: FINANCE & ACCOUNTING

DIVISION: QSHL – FOOD HALL

REPORTS TO:

 LOCATION: QSHL HEAD OFFICE
 
Job Summary
The Accounting Technician will rotate through key accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, statutory reporting, and reconciliations, gaining broad exposure to the financial operations of the company. This role requires a candidate with a solid understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Accounts Payable:
    • Process and manage invoices from vendors in a timely manner.
    • Ensure proper documentation and approval for all payments.
    • Maintain accurate records of vendor transactions.
    • Assist with the reconciliation of accounts payable balances.
  • Accounts Receivable:
    • Process customer payments, ensuring timely and accurate recording.
    • Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up with customers on overdue accounts.
    • Assist in the preparation of reports related to aging and collections.
  • Statutory Reporting:
    • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports in compliance with local regulations.
    • Support in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
    • Ensure proper tax reporting and filing in line with statutory requirements.
    • Assist with preparation of all Statutory payments e.g. N.I.S, PAYE, Health Surcharge, VAT , Corporation Taxes and Withholding Taxes
  • Reconciliations:
    • Assist in the reconciliation of bank accounts, general ledger, and other Balance Sheet and financial accounts.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
    • Support the monthly closing process by ensuring all necessary reconciliations are completed.
  • General Accounting Support:
    • Provide support across other accounting functions as required.
    • Assist with audits and internal control procedures.
    • Participate in ad-hoc accounting projects as assigned by management.
 
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
  • Completion of ACCA Level II or FIA qualification is required.
  • Additional certification or coursework in accounting is a plus.
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in an accounting role, preferably in the retail or fast-food industry.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar).
  • Experience in handling basic accounting functions, such as accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and reporting.

Skills
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Working Conditions
  • Full-time position, with occasional overtime during month-end and year-end closings.
  • Based in Trinidad.
  • Note that this role is based with Quick Service Holdings Head Office but may involve accounting work for any of the brands within the group.
