Company Profile:
The Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Desalcott) maintains its position as the largest operating desalination facility in the Western Hemisphere. The plant produces and supplies potable water to the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) at the current operating capacity of 40MIGD (million imperial gallons per day).

Desalcott is currently seeking to recruit a dynamic, suitably qualified Engineering Assistant.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The Draughtsman will be responsible for providing support to the Engineering team at DESALCOTT. This will include, but not limited to:

1. Producing drawings using AutoCAD – civil, electrical, mechanical, and piping drawings in support of scopes, including as-built drawings.
2. Update and manage the electronic drawing database and retrieve drawings as required.
3. Taking measurements on site.
4. Verifying construction details on site against approved drawings.
5. Assisting with supervision of jobs on site.
6. Generation of schedules using Microsoft Project.
7. Any other duties as assigned by the General Manager and/ Ag. Chief Engineer.

 
 
Qualifications and skills:

• A Technician's Certificate in General Draughting or a Diploma/Degree from a recognized institution, with evidence of training and proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with evidence of training in MS Project.
• Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and interpersonal).
• A keen eye for detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities.
• Supervision of labour and subcontractors.
• Produce project progress and completion reports, and incident reports.

 
Experience:

• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
