REPORTS TO: Manager - Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility & Events.
JOB SUMMARY
Assists the Manager - Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility & Events to identify and implement public relations and corporate social responsibility programmes to improve media relationships, achieve significant positive awareness and ensure that the company’s good public image is always maintained, for assigned region.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications:
1.Works with the Manager - Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility & Events to develop and implement a clear communications strategy which is integrated with corporate strategy and consistent across all aspects of external and internal communications.
– Develops and executes strategic communications programs to achieve significant awareness for the company's brand and ensure the company’s good public image is always protected.
–Creates and implements media outreach programmes designed to improve media relationships with the company and its executives.
–Actively engages, cultivates, and manages media relationships to push coverage of key activities and programs; creating communication opportunities and celebrating milestones, actively disseminate news about the company and its products and services.
2.Develops effective communications documents for local leadership including public speeches, talking points and presentations.
3. Ensures that the social media and website representative is provided with relevant and current content and information as per agreed.
4.Demonstrates skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top tier reporters and editors to achieve high-impact placements.
5.Supports the positioning of leadership and executives as credible spokespersons in the financial services industry.
6.Monitors press stories relating to the company and its brand and maximizes the opportunity for positive public relations and manages negative press.
7. In consultation with company stakeholders, drafts and edits clear and compelling press releases as needed, and monitor placement of same in accordance with the KPI of two published media releases per week.
8.Works with business leaders to expertly manage crisis communication.
9.Identifies and implements, where applicable, media trends and opportunities for the improvement of the company’s corporate reputation.
10.Contributes to the planning of, and arrangements for company events. This includes event publicity and the design and production of related collateral materials.
11.Contributes to the conceptualisation, planning and execution of CSR programs. This includes public promotion of the programmes.
12.Assists with the documentation of and reporting on the programme. This includes arranging photography, videography and other multi-media content capture, where possible.
13.Represents the company at internal and external events as required.
14.Completes related duties and special projects.
15.Performs any other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED
Education/Experience:
·Tertiary-level qualifications in Communications or related discipline.
·At least two years’ experience working with media in assigned markets with a demonstrated ability to build strong and healthy relationships.
·Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and organisation skills.
·Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with special emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
·High energy, passionate and adaptable.
·Ability to perform within an integrated and collaborative team environment.
·Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and strict deadlines.
·The ability to work with minimal supervision.
·Previous experience in a financial services environment would be an asset.
