JOB OVERVIEW:
The Accountant assists with the coordination of the timely and efficient preparation of the monthly management accounts, reporting templates, annual financial statements, annual budget and statutory returns. Additionally, he/ she is required to monitor and report on the performance of the organization with specific initial focus on expenses. Each incumbent coordinates activities related to a specified area of assignment and performs tasks requiring specialized knowledge in the assigned area but is expected to have general knowledge of all areas.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Accounting:
• Prepare the monthly management accounts.
• Prepare and review the templates for submission to the holding company.
• Prepare the annual financial statements for GLOC and BANC in accordance with IFRS.
• Oversee the interim and year end audits.
• Prepare board reports.
• Prepare and review taxes and handles all tax queries.
• Research IFRS requirements for accounting issues.
2. Regulatory Accounting:
• Review quarterly and annual CBTT returns for GLOC, BANC and CALICO (including CAPAD preparation).
• Liaise with the Regulators and handles queries for GLOC, BANC and CALICO.
• Prepare the annual budgets and required forecasts for GLOC and BANC.
• Prepare Compliance reports on a monthly basis.
• Review fraud reports and makes recommendations for appropriate action.
• Preparation of business cases for CAPEX.
• Assist with the external audit by reviewing and delivering audit schedules to auditors and handling queries as needed.
3. Reporting:
• Prepare Monthly Transformation Office Reports.
• Prepare monthly McKinsey dashboard.
• Prepare monthly GHL Expense Reports.
• Prepare Monthly Schedules to support Template.
• Preparation of annual budgets.
• Support preparation of Quarterly Finance Report
• Prepare Oracle account reconciliations for identified accounts.
4. Special Projects/ Research:
• Conduct technical projects/tasks on behalf of the VP Finance.
• Provide technical support to the VP Finance as required.
• Conduct research projects for the VP Finance.
5. To perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager/ Vice President.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• ACCA qualified
• LOMA 280, 290, ACS 100 and all related parts
• 5 years accounting experience, of which at least three (3) years should be post qualification.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Corporate Analysis or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge/ understanding of accounts and statistics.
• Audit firm/financial services experience beneficial.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
The Accountant must be driven, organized with excellent time management skills, comfortable working with minimal supervision, flexible and articulate. He /She must possess unquestioned integrity and act in a professional manner at all times.
