PURPOSE OF THE JOB      
The Accountant is responsible for managing the company’s financial accounting and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, as well as providing timely, accurate financial information to support management decision-making.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  •     Continually review existing Accounting Policies, Practices and Procedures, recommend improvements and implement as needed.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely preparation of monthly and annual accounts.
  • Oversee general ledger reconciliations, including accounts payable, receivable, inventory, fixed assets, and bank accounts.
  • Prepare management reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for decision support.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including PAYE, NIS, Health Surcharge, VAT, Corporation Tax, Business Levy, and Green Fund Levy.
  • Manage the company’s Bank and Loan Accounts, ensure timely reconciliations and establish a productive relationship with the Banks and Lending Agencies.
  • Oversee the preparation and validation of monthly commission calculations for all Sales Representatives, ensuring accurate retrieval and reconciliation of sales and receipts data from QuickBooks.
  • Prepare Revenue reports on a monthly and / or yearly basis as and when required for management.
  • Prepare year-end financial statements, audit schedules, and coordinate external audits.
  • Develop, review, and improve accounting policies, systems, and internal controls.
  • Supervise and support accounting staff, ensuring proper training and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Any other related duties that may be required by Management.

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

·       ACCA professional Accounting Accreditation.

·       Minimum 6 - 8 years’ accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or related industry.

·       Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office Suite.

·       Strong knowledge of IFRS and Trinidad & Tobago tax laws.
