Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support the Accountant with accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and reconciliations. The successful candidate will maintain accurate financial records, manage vendor and customer accounts, and ensure all accounting functions are completed accurately, confidentially, and on time.
Educational Requirements:
• Associate Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• ACCA Level I or II (completed or in progress) considered an asset
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar accounting role
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software considered an asset
Responsibilities:
• Enter and record local and foreign payables and payments accurately
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
• Reconcile General Ledger accounts, bank accounts, and credit cards
• Monitor bank accounts daily and prepare bank deposits
• Process customer credit applications and update customer accounts
• Follow up on outstanding invoices and prepare aged receivable statements
• Generate weekly accounts receivable reports
• Manage petty cash transactions and reconciliations
• Provide administrative and accounting support to the Finance Department
