The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for performing day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data. The role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a clear understanding of accounting principles to ensure timely and efficient processing of supplier invoices and payments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process, verify, and reconcile vendor invoices, purchase orders, and payment vouchers.
  • Ensure all invoices are properly authorized, coded, and recorded in the accounting system.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable ledgers for associated companies.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs and ensure timely disbursement to vendors.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist in month-end closing by preparing accruals and ensuring completeness of expenses.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of all accounts payable transactions.
  • Communicate with suppliers and internal departments to address payment queries or issues.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Support the finance team in other accounting tasks as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Minimum ACCA Level 1-2 (Fundamentals) .
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in an accounting or accounts payable role.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Peachtree, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general office applications.
