A reputable Marine Transportation Company is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and motivated individual to join our Accounts Team in the role of Accounts Clerk.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a suitably qualified and motivated individual to join our Accounts Team on a temporary basis for a period of four (4) months in the role of Accounts Clerk. Reporting to the Accounts Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting activities including data entry, supplier reconciliations, payroll support, and bank reconciliations. This short-term opportunity is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, a solid grasp of accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.


  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure timely achievement of all financial objectives and deliverables.
  • Verify supplier invoices for accuracy and compliance.
  • Enter invoices into Peachtree or other relevant accounting software.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding queries and payments.
  • Prepare supplier account reconciliations.
  • Process purchase orders, petty cash, cheques, and other payments.
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations (non-active accounts).
  • Maintain and prepare payroll data for Marine Operations crew.
  • Prepare and file VAT returns.
  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of audit working papers.
  • Maintain proper filing and storage of all accounting documents.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Accounts Manager.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail (100% data entry accuracy expected).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and perform under pressure.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and relevant statutory requirements.
  • Competence in financial reporting.


    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • ACCA Level 2 (or currently pursuing), or other recognized accounting certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Proficient in Peachtree or similar accounting software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
