Job Summary
The Assistant Accountant supports the accounting department by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing reports, and assisting with day-to-day financial operations. The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and knowledge of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in preparing financial statements and management reports.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Record and reconcile daily financial transactions.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and filing systems.
• Assist with payroll processing and statutory deductions.
• Prepare and submit invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers.
• Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and tax regulations.
• Liaise with auditors, suppliers, and customers regarding financial matters.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting certification (or progress toward one, such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an accounting or finance role is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
• Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar).
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
