POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Auto-Electrician ensures a standard preventive measure relative to all auto electrical plants, heavy duty equipment and machines. He/she conducts regular/scheduled maintenance, diagnostic and repairs necessary to avoid or prevent unnecessary downtime, ensuring safe and efficient operations of all auto systems.

 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES: 

1) Regularly (or as directed) perform electrical checkup/thorough diagnostic of all auto electrically operated systems and heavy-duty equipment.

2) Perform regular (after) cleaning up and maintenance of the entire workstation.

3) Installation of all faulty parts after a thorough diagnostic (this involves, electrical repairs on various heavy-duty vehicles, plant and equipment –both petrol and diesel engines).

4) Ensure that repair work carried out on any faulty machines/equipment are adequately guided with the stipulated circuit diagram and specification manuals of the manufacturer.

5) Ensure all tasks are safely performed by abiding with HSSE legislative and internal procedures and guidelines (this includes, ensuring adequate safety measures in place when operating on machines or equipment that contains high voltage.

6) Ensure basic checkups of all auto electrical systems are effectively carried out in a timely manner or as directed.

7) Complete necessary documentation in consultation with the supervisor (this includes, inspection sheet and spares order).

8) Identify potential faulty parts (due to wear and tear) and advise the supervisor (this includes, follow-up and give reminders).

9) Undertake related training, workshop, and information session when require.

10) Perform any related duties assigned by the Maintenance manager

 

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

1) Ability to interpret circuit diagrams and specification manuals

2) Knowledge of both petrol and diesel auto systems

3) Knowledge of safety measures and guidelines relative to auto electrical systems

4) Ability to identify all electrical components

5) Ability to read and write legibly 

6) Ability to operate necessary electrical testers and other related devices
