Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly qualified Commercial Financial Analyst that is responsible for delivering financial insights and analytical support to drive informed decision-making across the business. Operating at the intersection of field operations and corporate finance, the role supports key commercial activities including project bidding, capital allocation, cost control, and performance reporting within an oil and gas services environment.
This position requires a strong analytical mindset, advanced financial modelling capabilities, and a solid understanding of upstream operations to effectively evaluate financial performance and optimize business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
• Develop, maintain, and analyse detailed financial models for budgeting and forecasting, including revenue, expenses, and project-based profitability.
• Prepare monthly variance analyses comparing actuals to budget/forecast, highlighting key drivers and recommending corrective actions
Operational Cost Tracking:
• Work with operations teams to establish standard costs, analyse variances, and track cost inputs.
Project Evaluation:
• Perform valuation of projects and assets, including economic parameters related to the profitability of oil and gas service contracts.
Data Reporting:
• Create detailed presentations and reports to communicate financial findings to senior management and non-technical stakeholders including KPI dashboards, executive summaries, and segment performance reviews.
• Act as a finance business partner to operational and commercial teams, providing analytical support for strategic decisions.
Reconciliation & Compliance:
• Perform monthly intercompany reconciliations and verify that operational expenses are recorded according to established financial procedures.
Process Improvement:
• Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting accuracy and process efficiency.
Project & Contract Finance
• Evaluate the financial viability of new service contracts and tenders, including margin analysis, working capital requirements, and break-even assessments.
• Track project-level profitability, flagging cost over runs and monitoring billing milestones against contract terms.
• Coordinate with operations and project management teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and revenue recognition.
Cost Control & Procurement Support
• Operational expenditures against approved budgets, including Monitor drilling support, logistics, equipment rental, and personnel costs.
• Assist in vendor and subcontractor cost-benchmarking and support procurement negotiations with financial analysis.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience: 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or similar roles, ideally within the oil and gas or oilfield services sector.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex modelling, pivot tables, lookup functions) and experience with ERP systems
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to manipulate large datasets, uncover trends, and perform sensitivity/scenario analysis.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial data clearly.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in preparing financial reports. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to present financial data clearly to non-finance audiences.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday from 08:00 am to 5:00 pm.
