Role: Compliance & Ethics Officer

Department: Law & Corporate Affairs

Job Purpose: 
The Compliance & Ethics Officer is responsible for the implementation and administration of the Anti-Bribery and Corruption Programme, functioning as an objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organisation. The position monitors behaviours in the organisation, reports on same and recommends and/ or initiates actions to ensure continued compliance with the Company’s Standards of Ethical Conduct.

In so doing, the Compliance & Ethics Officer will liaise with all departments to ensure obligations are met. The jobholder operates in a fast-paced, dynamic office environment and is required to act with the utmost discretion as he/she may provide guidance on very confidential and sensitive matters from time to time. He/ she must be able to produce and ensure the integrity, accuracy and confidentiality of all information generated within his/her sphere of accountability, while abiding by statutory requirements.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provides information and guidance to Company staff on ethical compliance issues related to the Company’s operations.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with subject matter experts to develop, create, and update the relevant Anti-Bribery & Corruption Programme including the Code of Ethics.
  • Conducts or participates in investigation, resolution and follow-up of ethical concerns/matters raised, as required.
  • Develops, identifies and analyses reports, as required on the Anti-Bribery and Corruption Programme, - for distribution to senior management, auditors, and regulators, and makes appropriate recommendations for improvement.


Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:

  • A first degree in Law (LL. B) from an accredited, recognised institution.

OR

  • ACCA Level III certification (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) or an equivalent qualification.

AND

  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant post qualification experience in a computerised environment.
  • An In depth understanding of Anti-Bribery and Corruption Programmes and tools
