Job Summary: 
The Dental Assistant reports to the Dentist and is responsible for providing assistance to the dentist in relation to all patient care.  

Additional Details: 

• Office hours are from 7am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday, except Public Holidays. 

• We may offer emergency services in rare instances, if the need arises you will be expected to give the time necessary to address patient needs. 

• Daily lunch hour (rotation with other staff) 

• Adherence to the Company’s Staff Manual is mandatory. 

Candidate Profile/Qualifications 

• 5 CXC Passes/Administrative Certificate. 

• Proficient in MS Word and Excel. 

• Basic computer and record-keeping skills. 

• Knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures.

Candidate Physical requirements 

• Ability to stand for extended periods 

• Manual dexterity to handle dental instruments. 

• Good eye-sight (corrcetive lenses can be worn). 


Key Responsibilities 
Job Functions: 

• Prepare patients for dental examinations and procedures.  

• Assist the dentist during treatments by handing instruments and materials.  

• Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment.  

• Take and process dental X-rays. 

• Prepare treatment rooms and ensure cleanliness and safety standards.  

• Record patient medical histories and update dental records.  

• Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-treatment care, and preventive practices.  

• Schedule appointments and manage patient communications.  

• Handle inventory and order dental supplies as needed.

• Not undertaking any job you do not understand. Ask your superior if there are any questions or any doubt. 

• Wear/use all safety PPE and equipment required by the job to be performed. 

• Report all injuries immediately to your superior. 

• Report any and all defective tools or equipment immediately.
