The Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Desalcott) maintains its position as the largest operating desalination facility in the western hemisphere. The plant produces and supplies potable water to the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA).
Desalcott is currently seeking to recruit a dynamic individual to fill the position of Electrical and Instrumentation Technician I. The successful candidate will serve to ensure the reliability of all electrical and instrumentation equipment on the plant by actively performing repairs, installations and ordering equipment/parts in conducting duties.
Key Responsibilities:
(1) Perform work in the Electrical department as prioritised by E & I Engineers and Senior Supervising Technician.
(2) Ensure performance of daily planned work and preventative maintenance schedule.
(3) Submit work permits, work requests, preventative maintenance reports, weekly reports etc.
(4) Responsible for ensuring proper upkeep of tools and testing of equipment.
(5) Provide emergency or call response as required.
(6) Complete shutdown jobs according to scope of works and specified time allotted.
(7) Work alongside contractors where there is a lack of available manpower, expertise or equipment.
(8) Work as directed by reporting Engineer or designate.
(9) Field repair and shop repair work as required.
(10) Any additional duties as identified by the Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer or Manager.
Qualifications:
(1) Electrical Technicians Diploma from a recognized institution.
(2) 5 CXC passes inclusive of Mathematics and English Language .
(3) Familiarity with ABB VFD service and repair, MCCs and Switchgear (480V, 575V), industrial lighting systems, transformers, circuit breakers and motors.
(4) Must be able to read and understand single line and schematic/control diagrams.
(5) Reasonable at troubleshooting.
(6) Minimum of 2 years industrial experience.

(11) Must possess working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004 (Amended in 2006)
