Finance Associate

Reports To: Financial Controller

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Associate to join our team. 

Successful candidates will support the accounting department in day-to-day financial tasks, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong grasp of accounting principles and is eager to grow within the finance and operation fields. While experience in the manufacturing sector is preferred, it is not required. Candidates with knowledge of inventory management, or financial and operational processes within the manufacturing industry will have an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  •      Responsible for reconciling all accounting cycle activity- accounts payable and receivables, cash receipts, payroll, journal entry preparation and monthly accounting cycle.

  •      Responsible for payroll including review and reporting of all payroll input (excluding management), adjustments, deductions, and transmitting data to our payroll agency.

  •       Maintain accurate fixed asset accounts, including updating asset listing, accounting records, calculating and recording depreciation and amortization using the appropriate method.

  •        Review bank reconciliations monthly by the 6th working day of the following month and follow up to ensure that reconciling items are cleared within 1 month.

  •       Preparation of requisite adjustment journals.

  •       Detail review of expenses prior to month end close-off for accruals, prepayments, rebilling’s or re-classes to enable a faster turnaround of month-end reports.

  •        Maintain the inventory balances for accuracy and perform perpetual counts during the month as guided by the Financial Controller.

  •      Lead the team conducting the quarterly and annual inventory counts; perform variance counts for final adjustment approval.

  •        Assist with processing invoices, payments, and expense claims.

  •        Assist with the preparation of the bi-monthly VAT Return, and other quarterly filings.

  •        Assist Financial Controller in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings

  •       Ensure compliance with financial policies and accounting standards are kept up to date.

  •       Assist in audits and liaise with external auditors as needed.

  •       Maintain the accuracy and integrity of accounting software and other ERP systems.

  •        Provide general administrative support to the finance team.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  •       Minimum level 2 ACCA qualification or equivalent.
  •        1-3 years of accounting experience.
  •        Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software
  •        Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  •        Strong knowledge of IFRS.
  •        Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  •        Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  •        Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  •        Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the manufacturing sector is a plus but not required.
  •  Knowledge of inventory tracking, and production financial processes is  advantageous.
  •           Pursuing professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA is a plus.
