CORE FUNCTIONS- Includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Team Leadership & Planning
- Manage and supervise a team of maintenance technicians across all shifts.
- Develop maintenance schedules and assign daily tasks, ensuring PM completion.
- Provide coaching, technical support, and skill development to technicians.
- Coordinate with production, quality, and engineering teams to prioritize repairs and projects.
- Manage overtime, contractor services and training schedules.
Technical Oversight
- Servo-driven and PLC-controlled conversion, extrusion, and rope machines
- Auxiliary equipment: chillers, air compressors, recycling systems, gearboxes, heaters
- Facility systems: compressed air, power distribution, lighting, safety systems
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for chronic or complex equipment issues.
- Ensure machine programs, parameters, and drive configurations are properly backed up and documented schedule and conduct staff meetings.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Develop and continuously improve PM plans using equipment manuals and data.
- Implement predictive tools (vibration, thermal imaging, etc.) where applicable.
- Monitor equipment performance trends to anticipate failures and optimize uptime.
Parts, Inventory, and Budget Management
- Oversee spare parts inventory, reorder points, and usage tracking.
- Manage maintenance operating budgets, cost-saving initiatives, and CapEx planning for upgrades.
- Ensure proper documentation of work orders, failures, and spares use.
Compliance & Safety
- Enforce all plant safety procedures and LOTO compliance.
- Ensure all equipment modifications meet electrical and mechanical safety codes.
- Conduct periodic audits on safety and preventive maintenance completion.
Project Management
- Lead installation, commissioning, and upgrades of new equipment (extruders, servo systems, etc.)
- Liaise with OEMs for specialized repairs, upgrades, or training.
- Support continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and 5S initiatives.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIS)
- Operate within agreed expenditure budget.
- Attain equipment up time ratios as specified for equipment.
- Minimum adherence of 90% to PM schedule
- Achieve optimal efficiency on specified equipment.
- Maintain Stores inventory for equipment spares to ensure zero downtime due to non-availability of stocked spares.
- Maintain proper equipment records.
- Achieve zero accident / injury loss time.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering
- At least 5 years industrial maintenance experience at a managerial level
- Must be proficient in servo systems, motors, drives and PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.)
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, using the internet and emails, CMMS and predictive / preventative maintenance tools
- Must be proficient and possess hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, extrusion and plastic processing machinery.
- Must have a solid background in electrical and mechanical systems.
- Proven track record in working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Must have a strong focus on safety, compliance and reliability
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
- Must be detail oriented with strong planning and organizational skills
- Must possess strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects.
- Must be able to interact with staff at all levels, inclusive of senior management.
- Must be able to work weekends & public holidays, as needed
- Police Certificate of Character (not more than 6 months old)
