Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and negotiation-savvy Purchasing Officer to join our permanent team. In this role, you will manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare supplies.

The ideal candidate excels at supplier relationship management, inventory forecasting, cost control, and ensuring that all imported and locally sourced medical products are procured efficiently and in strict compliance with health sector regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. End-to-End Procurement: Manage purchase requisitions, generate purchase orders (POs), and track orders from initiation through final delivery, ensuring optimal stock levels across distribution departments and retail outlets.

  2. Supplier & Vendor Management: Evaluate, negotiate, and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers and freight forwarders to secure competitive pricing, favorable payment terms, and reliable lead times.

  3. Inventory & Demand Planning: Collaborate with warehouse and sales teams to analyze consumption rates, prevent stockouts of critical medical supplies, and forecast future inventory needs.

  4. Shipping & Logistics Coordination: Coordinate shipping schedules, customs clearance documentation, and freight logistics to ensure timely import and delivery of specialized medical devices and pharmaceuticals.

  5. Cost Control & Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain constraints to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising product quality or regulatory compliance.

  6. Compliance & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier contracts, compliance certificates, and shipping documentation in alignment with internal quality assurance and regulatory standards.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  1. Education: A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Logistics, Business Administration, Procurement, or a related field.

  2. Experience: Minimum 2 to 3 years of proven experience in a purchasing, procurement, or inventory control role (experience within a medical, pharmaceutical, or wholesale distribution environment is a distinct advantage).

  3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel capabilities are essential) and experience working with ERP, CRM, or inventory management software.

  4. Core Competencies: Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills; high level of accuracy and attention to detail; strong organizational abilities to manage multiple vendors and tight deadlines.
