JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimum supervision, inspect, monitor, record and report all quality control functions in the Plant as they relate to raw materials, processing and finished goods. You are responsible for conducting and documenting testing results during manufacturing processes and ensuring that products comply with quality standards and manuals.
You must at all times pay special attention to and promote workplace safety.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to:
Conduct 100% visual inspections and physical testing of products produced on the given shift to ensure that they are made in accordance to the acceptable standards and quality manual, including but not limited to, film and seal integrity, impact, burst, leakage test, gauge and dimensional checks as well as rope checks.
Record/note, during the process, any variance that may impact upon the quality of the final products and immediately inform the Operator as well as the Manager / Supervisor for the necessary corrections/adjustments to be made.
Ensure that housekeeping and areas used by Machine Operators and workers, e.g. weighing stations, etc. are clean and tidy to eliminate the possibility of cross contamination or any in efficiency.
Record and report all inspections done on the shift.
Sign off and label products as QC approved products for both conversion use and fit for sale. Once this is done, all acceptable products must be stored in the designated area for collection by the Warehouse Department. Report on Approved product, Rejected product and Blocked product quantities.
Equipment Calibration: Calibrate and maintain testing equipment, measuring instruments, and gauges used for quality control purposes. Ensure that equipment is properly calibrated to provide accurate measurements.
Sample Collection: Collect representative samples of in-process materials, and finished products for testing purposes. Ensure that samples are properly labeled and stored for reference.
Collaboration: Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to address quality-related concerns and implement process improvements.
Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality, process efficiency, and overall facility performance.
Adherence to Safety and Regulations: Ensure that all quality control activities are performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Communication: Effectively communicate quality-related information to supervisors, managers, and other stakeholders. Effective verbal communication is essential.
Root Cause Analysis: Investigate any product defects, non-conformities, or quality issues. Perform root cause analysis to identify the underlying factors and work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Record all rejected items on the QC test document, outlining the Operator’s name, product type, quantity and reason for non-conformance. This must be done before said products are sent for Manager’s approval to discard or recycle.
Ensure that your work area is kept clean and tidy at all times.
Perform any other job related duties as assigned by the Quality Control Manager, Plant Manager, General Manager or Directors.
