REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY: 

Service, maintain and repair Company-owned chillers located at customer outlets on assigned trade routes. The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for completing the established daily chiller service quota, carrying out on-site repairs, minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring each unit is left clean, safe and operational.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

- Complete the established daily quota of chiller services at customer outlets along the designated route.

- Inspect, clean, test and perform preventative maintenance on trade chillers to maintain reliable operation and correct product temperature.

- Diagnose refrigeration faults and carry out on-site repairs, including replacement of condenser and evaporator fan motors, thermostats and other minor components.

- Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical issues involving wiring, relays, switches, overloads, plugs and related controls.

- Identify units requiring major workshop repairs, additional parts or replacement and report them promptly to the supervisor.

- Follow all electrical, refrigeration, road-safety and customer-site safety procedures while performing assigned duties.

- Communicate professionally with outlet personnel and keep the work area clean after servicing or repairing equipment.

- Complete route sheets, service records and repair reports accurately, including parts used, work completed and outstanding defects.

- Safely operate the assigned manual-transmission service vehicle and maintain tools, equipment and spare parts in an orderly condition.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Certification in Refrigeration and/or Air Conditioning.

• Five (5) CXC O’Level passes, including Mathematics and English A.

• A minimum of two years’ practical experience servicing and repairing commercial chillers or comparable refrigeration equipment, including fault diagnosis, fan-motor replacement and minor electrical repairs.

• Applicants must be 25-45 years of age.

• Defensive Driving Certificate. (Can be attained after selection)

• A valid driver’s permit and demonstrated ability to drive a manual-gearbox vehicle are required. (A valid Heavy T license will be considered an asset)

• Applicants must be physically and medically fit and able to drive for extended periods.
