Job Description.
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and company assets. This role involves monitoring premises, conducting patrols, enforcing security policies and responding promptly to incidents.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Be visible at all times.
• Exercise excellent observations skills in identifying any situation that may pose a risk to the safety and security of employees, customers, visitors etc.
• Maintain surveillance and through excellent observant skills identify or detect suspicious behaviour that can lead to loss or damage to company assets.
• Detect, challenge and displace unwanted persons which may include but not limited to loiters, and other individuals who may not have good intentions.
• Monitor entrances and departures of employees, customers, visitors and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
• Provide assistance and be respectful to all in a courteous and professional manner.
• Ensure that no unauthorized vehicles are parked within or around the facility.
• Ensure that the driveways, entrances, and exits are kept clear at all times.
• Ensure professionalism at all times i.e., discouraging friends from visiting and chatting while on duty, discouraging idle chatter with employees, visitors and others, no excessive phone calls, and no behaviour that could bring the company into disrepute.
• Provide assistance, information, and directions to employees, visitors, and contractors in a courteous manner.
• Accurate reporting on disturbances or other notable situations that may have occurred on that day and submitting to Managing Director.
• Maintain absolute confidentiality as it relates to the company’s personnel, property, assets and information.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
• Minimum 5 CSEC Subjects – Mathematics & English mandatory.
• Knowledge of security protocols, emergency procedures and public safety regulations.
• Minimum three years relevant work experience.
• A valid Police Certificate of Good Character (COC).
• Physical fitness and ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to stand and/or patrol for extended periods
