Job Summary:
The Senior Accounting Assistant plays a key role in ensuring financial records are accurate, compliant, and reflective of the company’s true financial position. This role involves assisting in the development of controls and procedures for efficient processing, analysis, and reporting, while providing detailed reports to aid decision-making. As a supervisory position, it offers guidance and training to junior assistants, supports forecasting and budgeting processes, and promotes knowledge sharing and collaboration across divisions within the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintenance and updating of the general ledger accounts by ensuring accurate recording of all transactions.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and intercompany transactions. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies identified between internal and external stakeholders
• Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of financial reports to Head Office (Massy Ltd).
• Perform variance analysis by comparing actual financial results to budgets or forecasts.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audits, budgets, and tax computations.
• Prepare government and regulatory reports, such as CSO and Survey of Establishment reports, and facilitate clearance certificate applications with the Board of Inland Revenue (BIR).
• Review the work of accounting technicians to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Preparation and reporting of daily bank balance, coordinate banking arrangements, including purchase of foreign currency and other banking facilities
• Support daily cash management/posting of entries and assist in preparing weekly cash flow reports
• Enforce cash handling procedures, including securing cash, balancing cash at the close of business, and facilitating cash pickups
• Provide analytical and technical support to the Operational Finance team and assist associates with reporting-related queries.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including those related to health, safety, security, and environmental standards.
• Undertake additional job-related tasks as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.
Requirements
• ACCA Level 1 or 2
• At least three years work experience in the accounting field
• 1 year supervisor experience
• Computer Literate – Working knowledge of MS Office and a computerized financial application.
