Position Summary

The Warehouse and Logistics Manager is responsible for providing effective leadership and operational management to the warehouse and logistics functions. The role will oversee the efficient storage, handling and movement of incoming and outgoing stock and inventory, while coordinating warehouse personnel, drivers, resources and delivery priorities to ensure reliable and timely daily operations.

TheManager is expected to develop and implement effective daily operating schedules, identify resource requirements, monitor stock availability and respond proactively to operational challenges. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are essential, as the role will routinely encounter employee, resource, inventory and process-related issues. The Manager should demonstrate initiative and innovation by developing practical and sustainable solutions rather than simply identifying or reporting problems.

A key responsibility of the position is to provide sound people management and contribute positively to the company's existing workplace culture. The Manager must understand and follow established workplace procedures and employee relations practices, including appropriately documenting incidents, preparing reports and referring employee relations and disciplinary matters to Human Resources where required. The successful candidate must be capable of exercising leadership and addressing workplace issues professionally without establishing independent disciplinary practices or creating a separate departmental culture.

The role requires a strong management foundation and the ability to adapt quickly to the company's established management, HR and operational systems. The successful candidate will face a significant learning curve and must demonstrate the maturity, flexibility and initiative necessary to learn and apply company processes while maintaining effective leadership of the warehouse and logistics team.

The Manager will also be responsible for maintaining accurate operational information and contributing to management reporting. This includes preparing departmental performance and process-flow reports, participating in monthly management meetings and assisting with the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Strong technological aptitude is required. Experience with Odoo would be a significant asset, given its use within the company's operations. Candidates with experience using comparable inventory, enterprise resource planning (ERP), accounting or logistics systems will also be considered, particularly where they can demonstrate an ability to learn and effectively apply new technology to inventory management, delivery coordination, reporting and other operational processes.

The position also requires practical competency in measurements relevant to warehouse and product operations, including volume, capacity and measurements associated with liquids and solids. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with measurements such as cubic metres, cubic yards and millilitres and applying basic operational calculations accurately when managing storage capacity, quantities and product movement.

Overall, the Warehouse and Logistics Manager must be an organised, solutions-oriented and adaptable leader who can balance operational efficiency with effective people management. The successful candidate will integrate into Interchem’s existing management and HR framework, contribute to a positive workplace culture and take ownership of improving warehouse and logistics performance through sound planning, reporting, process management and continuous improvement.
