Description

• Have basic understanding of the electrical and mechanical working of the fire alarm system
• Perform service of fire alarm system. Inspect and test systems to ensure all components are performing well and comply with safety requirements
• Educating customers on care and maintenance. Show customers how to use alarm system, discuss any questions or concerns and ensure customers are fully satisfied with the service they receive
• Install conduit infrastructure
• Install all wiring to connect system components, complying with all applicable standards and with customer’s concerns or preferences
• Mount devices at appropriate locations, performing all necessary tasks, such as drilling holes and accessing crawl spaces, and terminate wires
• Knowledge of the fire alarm devices
• Ability to use hand and power tools to install hardware and maintain tools
• Respond to fire alarm call-outs to determine the source of the alarm, whether it is smoke or a malfunctioning system, and make recommendations
• Compose and submit documentation and reports for each installation or repair visit, complying with company’s standard operating procedure

• Working conditions include restricted movement, air contamination, lifting, or carrying heavy objects
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, crawl, sit, talk, move about, hear and speak.
• May be required to work in restricted spaces, from a prone position, and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions.
• Noise level may be high when operating power equipment.
• Employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions especially in emergency repair situations.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and greater than 50 pounds using appropriate equipment.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Employee is required to update knowledge and utilize safety equipment for the work to prevent injury to self or others.
