Duties and responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities of the Nurse (RN):
- Supervises assigned staff.
- Conducts individualized patient assessment, prioritizing the data collection based on the patient's immediate condition or needs within the specified timeframe.
- Develops plan of care that is individualized for the patient/resident in collaboration with other nursing staff.
- Ensures that appropriate treatments as ordered by the Doctor are implemented in an accurate and timely manner.
- Performs therapeutic nursing interventions as established by the individualized plan of care for the resident/patient.
- Documents patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention and progress towards problem resolution.
- Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation and life support protocols, as required.
- Monitors all prescribed medication and controlled drugs.
- Ensures adequate stock of medication and ward supplies are maintained.
- Ensures that health and safety guidelines are practiced.
- Initiates the 'emergency and evacuation procedures, as required. Assists with registration of incoming residents and recording the departure of exiting patients/residents. Keeps accurate and well documented records and reports of all patients/residents.
- Ensures that reports are completed at the end of each shift.
- Liaises with the Doctor/s when a critical problem arises with the patient/residents, or any changes in patients/residents' condition.
- Publishes daily assignments on white board.
- Provides on the job training for nursing staff. Accompanies all Doctors while on rounds.
- Applies the Dying Process Policy, as required.
- Enables Nurse patient Doctor Family relationship.
- Performs any other related duties.

Job Requirements
- The required combination of qualifications, skills and experience include:
- Training as evidenced by possession of a degree in Nursing from a recognized
- nursing school. Certificate in Supervisory Skills.
- Minimum of three (3) five (5) years' experience as a professional nurse.
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago in General Nursing.
- Any suitable combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
