Reports To: Supply Chain Manager
Division Head: Chief Financial Officer
POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises the effective purchasing and delivery of goods and services through the establishment and rationalization of key supplier agreements, identification of new opportunities, and actively seeking to improve efficiencies while ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures. Supports the development of specifications for goods and services including requests for bids and proposals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Direct Reports: Two
- Indirect Reports: Nil
RESPONSIBILITES
- Manage and coordinate the purchasing of company materials, supplies, equipment, and services.
- Supervise Purchasing Team, which includes but not limited to, managing Purchasing operations & assignment of work, training and development and performance management.
- Review and approve purchase orders and requisitions for accuracy and compliance with the Company’s purchasing requirements.
- Liaise with multiple vendors for availability of goods, prices, deliveries, discounts, and changes in supplies, materials and equipment offered for sale.
- Negotiate with suppliers within the Company’s established compliance guidelines, to generate purchase order approval, while maintaining strictest confidentiality.
- Assist Line Managers/Supervisors in resolving issues with vendors (Purchase Orders).
- Provide guidance for all Departments on the Company’s purchasing and contract compliance procedures.
- Develop, implement and coordinate improved systems and procedures to ensure centralized purchasing.
- Coordinate purchasing-related activities with other Departments and outside agencies.
- Maintain the computerized (BPCS) Purchase Order System; enter product information to create Purchase Orders.
- Supervise demonstrations and tests of supplies and equipment.
- Prepare reports and presentations as required by Management.
- Execute all relevant responsibilities as outlined in the Roles, Responsibilities and Authorities Matrix (MT-GM-004) to ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Perform any other related duties that may be assigned.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business Administration or any other related discipline from a recognized institution
- Tertiary level certification in Purchasing or any other related discipline.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a Purchasing environment with at least two (2) in a Supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience in purchasing principles and administration of contracts.
