Job Summary
The Accountant will execute the financial management and reporting and have oversight of the day-to-day financial operations. This role will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, cost control, compliance and efficient accounting operations.
 
The Accountant will also supervise the finance team, ensuring adherence to financial policies and best practices while supporting strategic business decisions through financial analysis.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with regulatory and internal reporting requirements.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.
  • Manage the accounts payable and receivable process, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations, monitor cash flow, and assist in treasury management.
  • Assist in the preparation of the consolidated financial reports for the holding company.
 
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Monitor actual financial performance against budgets, identifying variances and providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Analyze food costs, inventory variances, and operational expenses to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Support strategic decision-making by providing financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
 
Team Supervision & Process Optimization
  • Supervise a finance team, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and financial policies.
  • Improve efficiency by streamlining accounting processes, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment within the finance team.
 
Taxation & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, VAT filings, payroll taxes, and statutory financial requirements.
  • Support the preparation of documents for audits and liaise with external auditors as required.
  • Stay updated on financial regulations, tax legislation, and best practices to ensure compliance.
 
Stakeholder Collaboration & Financial Support
  • Work closely with procurement, operations, and senior management to align financial strategies with business goals.
  • Collaborate with the Group CFO and other accountants on group-wide financial reporting and planning.
  • Provide financial insights and reports to assist in strategic decision-making for the assigned brand(s).
 
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
  • Accuracy & Timeliness: Ensure timely submission of financial reports and tax filings.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Maintain expenses within budget and monitor cost variances.
  • Process Efficiency: Implement and improve financial procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Team Management: Provide leadership and training to ensure high team performance.
  • Compliance: Maintain full adherence to accounting standards and tax regulations.
 
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Education: Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA).
  • Experience: Minimum 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within retail, FMCG, grocery, or restaurant industries with at least four (4) at a supervisory level.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, and cost control.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising and mentoring accounting staff.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Business Central QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with Point-of-Sale systems (e.g., SMS, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, cost control, and financial analysis.
 
Working Conditions:
  • Full-time position, based at the company’s corporate office with site visits as required.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and problem-solving skills.
  • Occasional extended hours during month-end closings, audits, and reporting periods.
