Description
Location: Tortola, British Virgin Islands
Join a dynamic institution committed to shaping the future of maritime education in the Virgin Islands and beyond. We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Maritime Programme Instructor (Firefighting) to deliver high-quality training and help build a local cadre of skilled maritime professionals.
- Deliver STCW and other maritime courses/workshops.
- Assist with programme design, materials development, and quality assurance.
- Maintain equipment and safety standards for maritime training.
- Support the development and training of instructional staff.
- Collaborate with the Virgin Islands Shipping Registry (VISR) on certification alignment.
Requirements:
- Required: Sea time on merchant/naval vessels and STCW Basic Certification.
- Required: Advanced STCW Firefighting.
- Required: 3 to 5 years of relevant maritime and instructional experience.
- Desirable: Chief Mate or Marine Engineer license; RYA-approved instructor.
- Teaching/training certification is a plus.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Qualified to deliver or assess STCW basic safety training.
Desired Competencies:
- Knowledge of STCW and other safety courses (PSSR, FPFF, PST, EFA, etc.).
- Familiarity with Caribbean Boat Masters License.
- Passion for teaching and maritime excellence.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary – US$60k - $65k/yr
