Overview
The Accountant, Revenue will be responsible for ensuring the accurate recognition, reporting, and analysis of revenue in compliance with IFRS 15, Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 606and other relevant accounting standards. The role will support revenue assurance activities, assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial reporting accuracy and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in large scale rental type organizations, and an understanding of revenue accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities
· Revenue Recognition & Compliance: Ensure revenue is recorded accurately per IFRS 15, Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 606 and other applicable accounting standards.
· Billing & Revenue Assurance: Collaborate with the revenue assurance team to validate the completeness and accuracy of revenue streams.
· Financial Close & Reporting: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
· Contracts & Agreements Review: Analyze customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
· Data Analysis & Reconciliations: Perform reconciliations between billing systems, general ledger, and revenue sub-ledgers. Investigate discrepancies and propose corrective actions.
· Process Improvement: Identify and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy in revenue reporting.
· Collaboration: Work closely with the finance, commercial, and technology teams to ensure alignment of revenue recognition policies and reporting requirements.
· Audit Support: Prepare supporting documentation and respond to internal and external audit queries related to revenue accounting.
Job Requirements
· Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, ACA or CIMA) is a requirement.
· 5+ years of experience in revenue accounting, preferably in large scale rental organizations or a finance-shared services environment.
· Strong knowledge of IFRS 15, Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 606 and revenue recognition principles.
· Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite) and revenue accounting software.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze large data sets.
· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Experience in managing revenue audits and reconciliations.
Preferred Skills:
· Knowledge of large scale rental type contractual agreements, including accounting for this and revenue recognition.
· Experience in process automation and finance transformation initiatives.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
